The Senior Attorney provides legal services on complex matters for assigned programs and internal clients. Ensures that transactions and activities are legally sound and consistent with the Conservancy’s mission, authority, policies, and procedures. Clearly articulates complex legal concepts and options. Provides legal review and negotiation of contracts that may include government grants, real estate (such as licenses, leases, easements, purchases, and sales), and service and procurement contracts. Advises on risks associated with transactions and legal compliance. May negotiate complex commercial transactions and have primary responsibility for particular substantive legal areas. Works as part of a team of attorneys, paralegals and support staff.
This position is full-time, exempt and requires a minimum of a Juris Doctorate or equivalent and license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction, plus 5 years’ relevant legal experience or at least 3 years’ relevant legal experience coupled with assumption of significant responsibilities for a geographic area or subject matter expertise. Experience negotiating complex transactions and agreements is also required. In-house experience and experience in transactional law, including negotiating, drafting and reviewing contracts in a manner that manages legal risk and facilitates legal compliance is preferred. Multi-lingual skills and cross-cultural experience is appreciated.
This position will be based in a Conservancy office in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000 annually, depending on qualifications. Applications should include a cover letter.
