Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be involved in a broad range of legal matters relating to the development, construction, financing, ownership and operation of power generation facilities (both renewable and fossil fuel) and electric transmission infrastructure projects. This role will be primarily transactional, with an emphasis on drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts such as: professional services agreements; technology license agreements; confidentiality agreements; equipment and material purchase and sale agreements; engineering, procurement and construction agreements; real estate agreements (site acquisitions, leases, options to purchase, easements, etc.); water supply agreements; interconnection agreements; corporate M&A/partnership/joint venture agreements; financing agreements; and property tax and PILOT agreements. The successful candidate will also be responsible for certain environmental and regulatory matters, and for managing litigation matters handled by outside counsel. Occasional travel will be required, and other responsibilities will be identified from time to time.
J.D. degree and strong academic record (law journal experience preferred)
Licensed to practice law in at least one state (Missouri and/or New York preferred)
1 – 4 years of relevant experience at a reputable law firm
Experience with commercial contracts, preferably relating to real estate, engineering, construction, development, M&A, financing and/or energy
Familiarity with project development, real estate, financing, and/or environmental permitting is preferred
Willingness and desire to develop skills in new areas
Excellent work ethic, communication skills, business acumen and commercial judgment
Ability to provide a high level of client service and perform excellent work under time pressure
