The Corporate Counsel will hit the ground running, tackling commercial transactions side-by-side with our sales and operations teams. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of applicable legal requirements relating to complex commercial contracts, vendor relationships, professional services, technology, privacy and security, and ever-present regulatory factors.
You will also demonstrate exceptional customer service and a practical, process-based approach to being a partner to our business clients. We need a team member who shares our focus on effective business support with no room for egos. This position requires a business-savvy team player who can partner with and counsel internal clients with minimal supervision in a fast-moving environment.
This position will be based in our Chicago headquarters and will report to the General Counsel. Your day to day role will include:
Participates early in commercial projects to suggest creative solutions and risk-mitigation opportunities using both a business and a legal skillset.
Works closely with operations, sales, business development and marketing teams, building and maintaining strong working relationships with the business leadership.
Analyzes risks and strategic opportunities from a legal perspective with a view toward creating long-term solutions.
Reviews, drafts and negotiates contracts and ancillary agreements, including professional services agreements.
Seeks out opportunities to create scale and leverage in the legal support model, for instance by creating and deploying repeatable processes and templates.
Works with the other members of the legal department and cross-functional teams in the US and India.

Education: J.D. (accredited law school); undergraduate degree; Bar admission in at least one state.
Minimum 7-10 years of legal experience that includes in-house roles supporting business operations, complex commercial agreements, and sales support; additional legal and non-legal work experience may be considered favorably.
An action-oriented self-starter and initiative-taker.
English proficiency required; additional languages may be considered favorably.
Technology-savvy; proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Local residents in the greater Chicago area preferred (no relocation).
