We are currently seeking an attorney with 4 – 6 years’ experience and outstanding interpersonal skills to join our in-house legal team.
Provide legal counsel to internal NAR teams, affiliates, and subsidiaries relative to:
Developing and implementing programs, activities or educational courses
Employment, instructor, and/or vendor issues
Preparing corporate filings and records
Review, analyze, negotiate, and draft contracts and RFPs to which NAR and its affiliates or subsidiaries are parties to avoid legal liability, and obtain favorable terms.
Research, identify, analyze and keep current on laws, regulations and court decisions affecting trade associations and the real estate industry; write legal memoranda and present legal opinions on same, and write legal case summaries.
Write articles for publication, as well as review and assist other internal teams that provide legal information in their publications.
Develop and conduct internal staff training.
Participate and speak at NAR events and meetings, as well as at state and local REALTOR® association meetings.
Assist NAR members, local and state REALTOR® associations and their legal counsel by:
Responding to general legal inquiries from members and REALTOR®
Providing legal information and analysis of relevant issues.
Developing risk management materials for publication.
Identifying new legal developments of interest and providing corresponding counsel.
Assist with special projects, as needed.
JD from an accredited law school
4 - 6 years of legal experience; association experience is a plus
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
Experience collaborating on internal and external teams
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills
Ability to present to large groups with poise and confidence
Strong commitment to accuracy and excellence
Experience with corporate governance, nonprofit tax law, anti-trust law, and/or commercial leasing a plus
