Take-Two seeks an attorney with 2-4 years of transactional business affairs experience and significant knowledge of complex music rights licensing. The successful candidate will negotiate, draft, and track a high-volume of licensing agreements with music rights holders for the inbound licensing of music. The successful candidate will also be responsible for assisting the supervising attorney with various matters related to the creation, marketing, and distribution of a wide array of entertainment content, including pre-recorded entertainment products, music based services, live events, production of soundtracks, and production of score.
The position requires an organized and detail-oriented professional who can understand evolving business needs, track and communicate progress to clients, manage paralegals, work with outside counsel, advise internal clients regarding contractual obligations, and identify and communicate areas of risk to the supervising attorney. The position will report to the Senior Director and Counsel, Music Business Affairs, but will work closely with a variety of clients including game studio music directors, outside counsel, paralegals, and a range of senior in-house counsel.
The successful candidate will be detail oriented, efficient, and well organized. She or he will be able to work proactively and independently, and assist managing a high-volume multi-party practice in a fast paced environment. They will also have direct knowledge of and experience with the music industry, with a passion for learning about business issues surrounding new media.
Approximately 2-4 years of relevant legal practice experience that includes significant law firm training and knowledge of the media and/or entertainment industries;
In-house experience is preferred, but not required;
Excellent writing and oral communication skills;
Able to work as a team with senior attorneys, clients, outside counsel, and paralegals;
Law degree from a top U.S. law school;
Admission to the Bar of at least one state and eligibility for admission to the New York Bar as in-house counsel; and
Good sense of humor and PSN/LIVE ID a plus.
