Our client, a global leader in the data & software arena, is seeking an experienced data attorney to join its growing legal department. This is a key role in the organization and will work closely with the CEO as well as will serve as the legal advisor/liaison and support the Global Head of Data and the Global Data Team. This position will focus on the commercialization and licensing of data and the “ins and outs” of how data can be used and transferred given the contractual and regulatory environment associated with personally identifiable information. This person will be crucial in setting strategy and supporting products as the CEO envisions it, which will entail obtaining data and then repurposing it.
Further responsibilities include centralizing the management of data from several data development centers around the world into one center at the corporate headquarters. This individual will be in a very visible role and will meet and lobby top stakeholders as well as lobby insurance companies. The role entails advising on data licensing issues, data privacy and security issues, related regulatory issues (domestic and international), assisting clients with compliance strategies, policy development and implementation, data monetization and data use analyses, new product development, privacy enforcement matters, and responses to data breach incidents.
The ideal candidate will have at least eight (8) years of experience in data commercialization and licensing. Please note that this is NOT a Data Privacy role but is much broader.
