Overview: The Vice President - Law of Norfolk Southern is the expert and leader who helps Norfolk Southern minimize its legal risks by advising its officers and board members on any major legal, public policy, merger, acquisition, regulatory, or other relevant issue the company confronts, including litigation risks. The Vice President - Law is President of two captive insurance companies and a member of other policy steering committees. This position oversees Norfolk Southern’s in-house attorneys, claims staff, insurance group, and records management team, and reports to the Senior Vice President - Law and Corporate Relations. This individual will also provide guidance and terms for doing business by working closely with Marketing and Sales, Real Estate, Sourcing, Information Technology, Operating, Finance and other departments. In addition, the Vice President - Law advises senior management and directors on corporate governance requirements.
Location: Norfolk, Virginia.
Compensation: Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience, to include base salary, bonus and equity.
Experience: 15+ years of legal experience with strong leadership skills and a background as a corporate generalist with experience in business law, global affairs, public company governance, litigation management, complex transactions (including M&A), intellectual property, ethics and compliance, antitrust, and legal department management, among other areas. A combination of top tier law firm and in-house experience is preferred.
