The prestigious & world-renowned Johns Hopkins Health System is searching for a Senior Counsel: Supply Chain & Vendor Transactions.
This individual will provide legal support to the JHHS affiliated commercial group purchasing organization (Nobilant) and potentially to the JHHS internal Supply Chain staff. This experienced transaction/procurement attorney will handle the day-to-day review, revision and negotiation of agreements between Nobilant and third party suppliers of medical equipment, products, pharmaceuticals and related services. H/She will also provide regular guidance, advice, and support to the Nobilant and the Supply Chain staff regarding matters related to compliance with current laws, regulations, polices, procedure, and ethical standards. In addition, in-depth experience in reviewing and revising commercial/procurement agreements is required and knowledge of group purchasing organizations and anti-kickback statute requirements is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities will include responsibility for drafting, review, negotiation, and finalization of all Nobilant agreements from inception through final signature. The agreements include, but are not limited to, purchase & sale of medical equipment, healthcare product purchases, rebates, consulting services, and other agreements.
This individual will be a key member of the executive team and provide strategic legal counsel to develop and expand the reach of this growing enterprise.
• JD with eight (8) to ten (10) + years of contract related and commercial legal work
• Experience with large dollar healthcare vendor transactions, such as: medical device procurement, pharmaceutical purchases, food & EVS services, large capital maintenance agreement, etc.
• Prefer (but not essential) prior experience with a GPO, supply chain or experience in a procurement setting
• Special skills to include:
o Competent & comfortable advising GPO leadership
o Ability to draft agreements of substantial number and complexity
o Highly developed analytical legal skills
o Demonstrated ability to read and understand contracts and contractual provisions, as well as applicable statutory and case law, and the ability to translate the same to non-lawyers
o Excellent communications skills with the ability to relate effectively to the various constituencies of Johns Hopkins Medicine
o Ability to work collaboratively and be a highly supportive member of multiple legal/client teams
o Proactively advise on relevant legal issues o Understand the broader business relationships and objectives
o Lead projects to successful closure
Technical competence with proven leadership ability
Able to provide practical, focused business and legal advice
Confident, collegial, and politically astute
Comfortable navigating the complexities of a distinguished healthcare system
Able to command respect based on experience, knowledge, and personal presence
Principled with integrity of the highest order
A desire and ability to relocate to the Baltimore, Maryland area
A Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree from an accredited law school. Required: Member in good standing of a state Bar
