DynCorp International, a multi-billion dollar global aviation, operations, training, and supply chain company that provides services to the United States Government, foreign governments, and commercial customers seeks a Senior Counsel specializing in Labor and Employment Law for its headquarters in Northern Virginia. The Senior Counsel will provide advice and counsel on a wide range of employment law and other matters arising out of the company’s worldwide operations.
The Senior Counsel will handle a diverse and challenging array of labor and employment legal matters arising from the company’s worldwide workforce of 12,000+ employees and team members. Qualified candidates will have relevant experience and exhibit a practical, business-based approach to problem solving. Exceptional interpersonal skills that facilitate prompt, constructive solutions for Human Resources, operational personnel, and executives across the organization are also essential. Applicants should have seven or more years of substantive law firm and/or in-house legal experience, preferably with U.S. government contractors.
Provide advice and counsel on state, federal, and foreign employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Service Contract Act, the ADA, Title VII, the ADEA, and the FLSA
Support business development professionals on employment issues arising out of customer solicitations
Provide advice and counsel regarding all aspects of the employment relationship, including recruiting and hiring, benefits and compensation, labor union representation, foreign services agreements and other employment contracts, and potential disciplinary actions
Prepare and supervise the preparation of the company’s response to complaints filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, National Labor Relations Board, and state agencies, as well as other government audits and investigations
Handle federal, state, and foreign litigation involving employment law matters, including management of outside counsel, risk assessment, oversight of case discovery, and case resolution
Review and draft corporate policies and procedures
Prepare and conduct company training on labor and employment law compliance
Conduct internal investigations as appropriate
7 or more years substantive experience in domestic and foreign employment law as in-house counsel with a corporation or a large law firm; in-house experience strongly preferred
Experience with government contracts strongly preferred
J.D. from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with at least one state bar or the District of Columbia
Excellent people skills, strong business orientation, exceptional communication skills, team player, self-motivating, collaborative, and energetic
Must be a proactive self-starter with strong leadership skills
