Sears Holdings Corporation is seeking an experienced attorney to join our Law Department as Assistant General Counsel, with responsibility for providing legal oversight, support, and advice with respect to a wide range of Sears Holdings Corporation businesses. Successful candidates will be comfortable supporting both transactional and regulatory matters.
Draft and negotiate commercial agreements.
Provide practical legal advice that furthers business objectives.
Identify risks inherent in contract terms and business and develop solutions to complex problems that mitigate risk.
Provide legal oversight and guidance in order to ensure the Company’s compliance with U.S. Customs and trade, transportation, environmental, product safety, and other laws, rules and regulations.
Provide accurate, cost-effective and timely legal support to business units.
Manage legal risks and assist in managing business risks and resolving pre-litigation disputes.
Apprise business and legal partners of pertinent legislative and regulatory developments.
Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills
Experience designing and implementing processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Excellent research skills
Strong customer service orientation
Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively on both legal and business teams
Ability to provide practical legal advice to business personnel at all levels of an organization
