Our client, a global leader in the data & software arena, is seeking an experienced IP attorney to join its growing legal department. This is a newly created, unique and “non-traditional” IP role in the organization and will work closely with the CEO on a one-on-one basis. In this role, you will work with this hard-hitting, creative CEO in exploring his conceptualizations/ideas and reducing them (features, functionality, utility, etc.) to patent applications. As this will only account for part of your time, you will assist in other areas of IP such as trademark matters, IP rights and data/usage rights.
The successful candidate will have substantial IP experience and must be willing to draft applications even if you have moved into a more generalist role. This will require someone with the ability to conceptualize and make sense out of ideas, be self-assured, flexible and have a higher than average tolerance for uncertainty.
