POSITION SUMMARY: This position is based in Kennett Square, PA and is responsible for handling employment and other legal matters for Genesis and related entities as delegated by Deputy General Counsel -- Employment and Litigation. The Associate General Counsel -- Employment and Litigation shall assist other members of the Law Department in the legal representation of Genesis and related entities. Such representation shall include the following:
Provide advice on a broad range of employment matters including recruiting, hiring, compensation, benefits, employee accommodations, leaves of absence, employee relations, reductions in force, and terminations.
Draft and review Human Resources policies, procedures, and handbooks.
Respond to pre-litigation demand letters, charges of discrimination, and subpoenas.
Identify emerging issues in employment law and provide appropriate guidance and training to Human Resources and Operations.
Represent the Company in relations with state and federal bureaus, departments and agencies, including DOLs, EEOC, Attorneys General, and others.
Handle commercial disputes and litigation as assigned.
Review, as requested, material contracts with vendors and providers.
Serve as a resource on matters of operational compliance with law and regulation.
Oversee and direct the provision of services by paralegals and by outside counsel.
Perform all other duties as requested.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Six or more years' experience in regional law firm and/or diversified corporation.
Legal experience should have concentrated on employment law, including experience with wage and hour compliance. An understanding of labor law and healthcare law are desirable.
Juris Doctorate with excellent law school credentials.
Admission to the state and federal courts of at least one jurisdiction in which Genesis conducts business.
