Our client, a high growth, privately-held international fintech company spanning from New York to London to Asia seeks a business-minded attorney with significant experience in the technology and banking arenas to join the company as General Counsel, with direct reporting responsibilities to the CEO. This company, which prides itself on developing and providing the best technological solutions for financial markets, offers a work environment that is interesting, exciting, and collaborative.
The successful candidate will have a wide variety of responsibilities, including:
negotiating and closing a broad variety of multi-million-dollar commercial technology agreements (e.g., BPO, systems integration, app maintenance, software licensing, and analytics);
negotiating and drafting a range of agreements including frame agreements for services, software as a service and cloud services agreements, as well as software licensing and maintenance services agreements;
drafting legal frameworks for alliances with industry partners;
liaising with IP, data protection, security and export compliance specialists;
providing strategic advice to the company and its executives concerning mergers and acquisitions as well as regulatory, governance, and all other legal and compliance matters;
representing the Commercial Legal team internally on a cross-functional panel reviewing new product and feature launches;
coordinating efforts and managing relationships with outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions domestically and globally, as well as deciding when and when not to utilize external counsel.

The ideal candidate will have:
a Juris Doctor with excellent academic credentials;
A minimum of fifteen years’ relevant legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal department (with a combination of law firm and in-house experience strongly preferred);
Significant experience working in both the technology and financial services sectors (deep tech experience is a must; a combination of the two is strongly preferred);
Familiarity with the numerous legal issues facing start-up and early stage companies, including passing familiarity with data privacy, deal shaping and negotiation strategy, regulatory issues, employment law, intellectual property law, and risk management;
Management experience, as an existing legal and compliance team will report to the General Counsel;
Excellent business and legal judgment;
A passion for working in a high-growth environment; and
Will be active and in good standing with bar admission in at least one state.
