The Associate Counsel / Senior Counsel will take a prominent role in providing strategic legal advice to the Ansell business. The Associate Counsel / Senior Counsel will support the needs of Ansell’s business in delivering high quality, timely, cost-effective and practical legal services to Ansell’s management and employees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
Primary responsibility to provide legal counsel to internal stakeholders in connection with Ansell’s global and domestic business operations.
General commercial work including drafting, reviewing and negotiating a large variety of documents and agreements.
Partner with stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives.
Advise on a broad range of legal topics including wider corporate and commercial law matters, contract law and agreements, labor and employment matters and policies, claims / product liability issues, data and privacy, regulatory frameworks, and litigation.
Develop strong working relationships and work in close collaboration with various levels of management to assess and manage risk and to help implement strategic objectives.
Work with other internal advisory functions (for example compliance, intellectual property, finance, insurance, HR and tax experts) to provide commercially relevant advice.
Provide legal support and company secretarial services to the Ansell Group entities, such as managing minutes, officers, directors, etc.
Assist in litigation management and reporting.
Assist the Global Compliance Officer to develop and implement compliance programs, policies and training as needed, based on legal and regulatory requirements, industry standards and best practices.
Conducting and arranging internal legal training to colleagues in the Law Department and throughout the business to help grow the knowledge of fellow colleagues.
Various degrees of domestic travel and internationally will be required for this position
Education & Licensing
Juris Doctor (or equivalent law degree).
Admitted and member in good standing with the New Jersey bar or qualify for limited in-house counsel license.
3+ years of corporate/commercial/litigation/employment experience at a law firm or in-house corporate legal department.
Skilled and experienced with drafting and negotiating complex contracts and documents.
Commercial business acumen and experience strongly preferred.
Some experience with litigation, employment law, M&A and IP preferred.
Experience with international business preferred; experience with B2B businesses and/or multinational company experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated competency and comfort in counseling of senior management/leadership a plus.
Working knowledge of compliance programs, including experience rendering preventative legal advice and counsel.
Familiarity with FDA/medical device regulations or other highly-regulated business activities is a plus.
