Provides legal advice to appropriate representatives of the State Farm Companies
Provides legal services on behalf of the State Farm Companies

Must have active license to practice law in at least one state
Other than as authorized by the General Counsel or his designee, employees are not permitted to handle any legal business outside of State Farm except authorized pro bono work.

For this counsel position, candidates with the ability to provide legal counseling on insurance policy administration matters and billing and payment issues are desired. Some familiarity with laws and regulations regarding electronic funds transfer and credit card payments is helpful as is familiarity with the property and casualty insurance policies. Some familiarity with the telephone recording laws and USPS rules and requirements for mailings is very helpful. The ability to read, interpret and advise on insurance code statutes, regulations and bulletins and accompanying case law is essential. Counsel will also need to provide oversight of small claims court cases involving billing issues.
Lead counsel on Enterprise Shared Services and Processes such as SFPP, including the handling of small claims cases involving SFPP billing issues (2-3 cases per year)
Lead counsel on administrative services postal matters (enterprise mail governance, printing/inserting/mailing, delayed mailings, USPS rules and requirements, business continuity issues, etc.)
Lead counsel on Customer Care Center compliance (quote and bind issues, review of risk statements, recording issues, review of training materials, etc.)
P&C Insurance Operations representative on the Auto Policy Forms issues
Lead counsel on billing proposals and systems changes involving billing issues (compliance with catastrophe bulletins and suspense of billing, premium billing changes, etc.)
Lead subject matter contact on Personal Liability Umbrella Policy
Lead counsel on the re-write of the commercial liability umbrella policy
Back up on marketing and other CCC matters
Back up on ADA issues
Back up on cancellation/nonrenewal procedures and laws
Back up on Fair Credit Reporting Act issues
Back up on OFAC control list along with others as this is product specific
