The Director of Data Privacy will provide legal support and guidance to the company's Global Privacy Officer with respect to the global privacy program, while also serving as the Carnival Cruise Line Privacy Officer and Data Protection Officer. The position will be responsible for providing legal guidance regarding data privacy issues to the aforementioned company privacy officers, as well as coordinating data privacy compliance efforts with relevant personnel from each of the operating brands.
This position requires frequent collaborative efforts with representatives from other departments and business units in the organization. These cooperative, cross-functional efforts are of central importance to the development and implementation of the compliance program.
In addition, The Director of Data Privacy will:
• Collaborate with management, Legal, IT and other affected departments to develop and continuously improve upon a comprehensive global privacy program consistent with relevant laws and regulations including but not limited to the EU's GeneralData Protection Regulation. • Define, draft and coordinate implementation of policies and processes that enable consistent, effective privacy practices. • Communicate the company's policies and procedures to employees and business partners through training and awareness activities. • Coordinate with senior management, Legal, IT, and other business functions to establish a recognized and accepted privacy governance structure. • Advise business units regarding compliance with privacy laws and regulations as well as company policies and procedures. • Oversee privacy program risk assessments and resulting mitigation and remediation plans. • Collaborate with business units to ensure that new privacy requirements are considered and during the design phase of new technology and service initiatives. • Develop and manage procedures for assessing business partners' privacy commitments and capabilities while holding themaccountable for compliance with the company's privacy policies and legal requirements. • Evaluate, enhance and maintain processes and systems utilized for transfers of sensitive information in manners consistent with legal and regulatory requirements. • Evaluate and improve upon processes for receiving, documenting, investigating and reporting unauthorized access or disclosure of protected information. • Develop and apply corrective action as needed in response to complaints concerning the organization's privacy policies and procedures. • Prepare and present clear, accurate and timely communication and reports on privacy risks, metrics, and compliance activities tokey stakeholders, senior management and the Boards of Directors. • Manage maintenance of relevant records to demonstrate compliance with privacy laws and regulations. • Assist in interactions with supervisory authorities when necessary. • Coordinate appropriate auditing and monitoring activities to provide assurance regarding compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Education: JD preferred.
Experience: The successful candidate will have at least ten years’ experience of experience practicing and/or advising large multinational companies on data privacy issues.

• In-depth knowledge of U.S. and European privacy laws, regulations and best practices. • Demonstrated ability to define and implement comprehensive compliance programs in complex organizations. • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems in creative, efficient and cost effective ways. • An ability to develop professional presentations, reports and business correspondence. • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. • An ability to work collaboratively and successfully in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams. • A strong knowledge of standards, laws, and regulatory environment and the impact these have on the administration of an effectivecompliance program. • A strong reputation for integrity and ethics. • An ability to respond effectively and discretely to sensitive inquiries or complaints. • Experience in use of Microsoft Office including proficient knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint. • A general comfort level speaking in front of and training others. • Ability to work independently and with a high level of initiative. • Ability to solve complex problems through strategic prioritization of competing interests.
