The purpose of this position will be to serve as the intellectual property corporate center of excellence providing IP counsel at corporate and all segments. The role will identify, assess, protect and manage the Company’s intellectual property assets and provide advice and counsel to Company’s management on intellectual property issues. In addition, he or she will be responsible for identifying intellectual property issues in proposed transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, government contracts, and domestic and international commercial transactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for partnering with the Company’s corporate and segment engineering, business development and business managers to develop and implement a strategy to protect and manage the Company’s domestic and international patent portfolio.
Provide Legal & Business Counsel on IP Issues including copyright and trademark, raised in domestic and international transactions for every business unit.
Responsible for drafting and negotiating license, joint development and related agreements.
Provide counsel on IP disputes.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
3-5 years’ experience as IP counsel in corporate or law firm environment
Licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction within the United States
Current knowledge of US Patent laws and regulations
Familiarity with International Patent laws and regulations
Prior experience developing domestic and international IP strategy
Admission to practice before the United States Patent Office
