The Legal Department is looking for an attorney with three to five years of experience working on a variety of corporate matters, including, but not limited to, technology contracts, information security, privacy, cyber security, employment law, and intellectual property issues. The individual will generally represent the Richmond Fed, which is part of the Federal Reserve System, and specifically support the Richmond Fed’s Human Resources and National IT functions. The preference is for a candidate with experience in both information technology and human resources but a strong background in one of these areas with an aptitude and willingness to learn the other may be acceptable. National IT is the national provider of information technology (IT) and IT services to the Federal Reserve System. Experience or familiarity with the regulation of financial services firms is desirable but not required. The position is located in Richmond, VA and will report to an Assistant General Counsel.

Essential Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Advise on legal issues related to employment, including, but not limited to, leave issues, disciplinary matters, workplace policies and procedures, FMLA, ADA, FLSA.
Advise on matters involving IT transactions, projects, and initiatives, including cloud computing, telecommunications, data privacy, data governance, IT standards and compliance, information security, intellectual property, and emerging technologies.
Assess potential legal and compliance risks, benefits, and consequences of decisions, present alternatives and propose solutions to achieve business objectives, while managing legal and practical business considerations.
Interface directly with client, vendor, and other third-party legal, procurement, and contracting representatives, as well as internal management and staff.
Counsel and conduct training on legal principles and best compliance practices for IT, information security, and human resources.
Conduct extensive legal research, provide oral and written opinions, and make legal and risk management recommendations on employment matters and IT-related matters.
Actively participate in department, Richmond Fed, and Federal Reserve System task forces, work groups, and other special projects.
Travel as required by job responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
***The Attorney II hiring range is $110,735 - $138,419, annually.

Strong academic credentials with a J.D. or an LL.B. degree from an accredited law school.
Membership in good standing, as attorney or corporate counsel, of the Virginia State Bar (or be eligible for such membership).
At least three years of experience in the areas of employment, procurement, IT, information security, and general corporate matters. A strong background in one or more of these areas with a willingness to learn the other areas may be acceptable.
Strong working knowledge of general employment law, contract or commercial law, corporate law, and IT- and IP-specific legal considerations.
Ability to drive and integrate diversity and inclusion practices, respecting individual and organizational cultures
