Provide in-house legal counsel and support at Newmont’s corporate headquarters, including work on commercial, transactional, legal research and other legal matters as needed. Primary responsibilities will include negotiating and drafting agreements and providing legal research and advice for various departments, and providing legal advice and support to other groups such a compliance/ethics, employment and litigation, as requested.
Drafting and negotiation of various commercial contract templates and records, including global joint venture and exploration templates and reference materials; assisting in preparation and negotiation of Newmont sale agreements, corporate/tax restructure agreements, and joint venture agreements, working with corporate and regional lead counsel.
In coordination with regional counsel and corporate counsel, conduct legal research and provide advice on topics as assigned.
Research, draft and present training on global supply chain department and legal standards for global contracting and compliance with policies and procedures regarding mandatory terms, such as FCPA, authorities and delegation of authorities and other substantive areas.
Provide legal research, drafting and negotiating skills in support of management of all intellectual property of the Company and protection of such property.
Work with Assistant General Counsel to define, develop and maintain the Company's standard form contracts.
Provide legal advice, research and work on securities, compliance/ethics, litigation and employment projects, as requested.
Responsible for Newmont’s technology and software agreements.
Responsible for Newmont’s Treasury Concentrate Sales and Refinery Agreements.
Assist in the maintenance of Newmont’s Export Compliance Program and Standards, and manage implementation of the export compliance program, including license requirement reviews, license applications, prohibited party screenings, and maintenance of records.

Position is based at the corporate office in Greenwood Village, Colorado, and may require travel to domestic and international sites. Extended work hours may be required.
Training & Experience
J.D. Degree and current license to practice law in Colorado required
3+ years of previous legal experience, at least 2 years of which was at a law firm
Familiarity with mining or mining law a plus
Sound business acumen and good interpersonal skills
Proven ability to manage heavy workload in a demanding, high-pressure environment
