We are seeking a Chief Legal Officer to join our Executive Management Team. Bring your expertise to manage all legal matters at Harris Freeman, including new business endeavors, M&A, corporate governance, state and federal regulatory issues, employment/labor law and product liabilities. This role will have responsibility to manage Harris Freeman’s need to negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, vendor contracts and intellectual property licenses with third parties. This position will be based in our Moorestown, New Jersey (near Philadelphia) location.
Harris Freeman is privately owned with over 10 locations in the United States and a few locations in Asia and Europe. We have diverse businesses through which we manufacture and distribute food, beverages and flexible packing material.
Contracts and Partnerships: Lead, review, negotiate and draft a variety of commercial agreements with customers, business partners and/or strategic alliance deals and other commercial agreements and provide counsel on legal issues to business units.
Regulatory: Remain current with respect to and advise senior management on all developments in relevant State and Federal regulations.
Real Estate: Draft, review and negotiate commercial leases and agreements for a variety of locations.
Marketing and Advertisement: Ensures practices follow applicable laws and regulations and recommend changes to policies or procedures whereby risks are avoided.
Preparation of legal documents internally or in coordination with outside counsel.
Negotiating transactional documents.
Provide counsel to internal departments and business groups.
Take an active part in executing global legal and compliance strategy as member of the Executive Management Team.
Some travelling within the continental U.S.
Excellent credentials from an accredited and reputable Law School.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience at a reputable law firm focusing on business.
10 years Corporate Counsel experience in a manufacturing and/or distribution company.
Experience in legal matters related to Product Liability, Risk Management, Commercial Contracts, Human Resources, Distribution/Manufacturing, Compliance and Credit.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
