Performs services of considerable complexity and impact on a broad range of legal and policy matters; provides expert legal and policy advice to executives and managers in areas of business law, open meeting law, and public records law; represents the District or SNWA in complex litigation cases, administrative hearings and specialized multi-party negotiations; and performs related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate for this position will have substantial experience in the following areas: Nevada's open meeting Law, public records, procurement, and public works laws, government law generally, the American's with Disabilities Act; demonstrate experience in handling government litigation; research and interpretation of legislation and legislative history, policy and committee meetings; and representation of clients in administrative hearings and multi-party negotiations. Significant experience working for a government agency or public utility is highly desirable.
Certificate of admission to the Bar of the State of Nevada and eligibility to practice law before: the courts of the State of Nevada, all federal courts within the state of Nevada and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals; and at least seven years of professional legal practice, including practice in specialized areas of the law as assigned; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A valid Nevada driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's Vehicle Insurance Policy.
