This individual will be an experienced compliance professional and will provide day-to-day compliance support and guidance to the filing team and applicable business areas. Role will include form/rate filing responsibilities as well. Will assist the department in the effort to ensure IHC products comply with state and federal rules and regulations. Will assist business units in their efforts to ensure our products stay compliant and competitive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the filing team who submits state filings through SERFF and outside of SERFF, as applicable; and comply with state regulatory laws in doing so.
Reviews product advertising and provides helpful feedback to the Marketing department that ensures compliance with regulatory requirements as well as business practices.
Develops issue ready forms and instructions in conjunction with the product implementation team.
Receives, reviews, researches and responds to Department of Insurance correspondence and resolves or explains issues within prescribed time frames and according to established procedures.
Works with various departments within IHC to help resolve legal issues, state law issues, and unanswered issues for different areas of the company; keeps accurate documentation of issues and follow up with areas involved.
Conducts regulatory research interpretation and implementation.
Collaborates with Actuarial associates in the development and preparation of policy forms and applications.
Collaborates with Product Marketing and Compliance associates on the filing of product marketing materials.
Maintains knowledge of state filing requirements.
Assists the Manager, Legal and Compliance and General Counsel as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervise day-to-day activities including state-specific filing projects associated with insurance products.
Maintains accurate product logs, records, and reports to provide accurate records and accurately tracks the progress and end results of various projects.
Oversees needs for extensions, resubmissions, withdrawals with considerations of individual states’ restrictions and deadlines.
Manages filing submissions, implementation and communication processes to ensure updates meet business and regulatory needs and happen in an accurate and timely manner.
Provide direction and guidance on technical matters involving state regulations, product compliance or competitive issues.
To identify, develop and execute process improvements.

Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills; and ability to effectively communicate ideas, issues and solutions.
Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment requiring management and completion of multiple priorities and projects within established time frames.
Advanced knowledge of System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing (SERFF), rate and forms filing procedures and compliance with laws, regulations, or standards; and Microsoft Office Suite products.
Knowledge of life and health insurance products.
Demonstrates initiative, leadership skills, and a high degree of professionalism.
