We are currently searching for a Senior Legal Counsel, Employment & Operation to support the Associate General Counsel and others in specific functional areas concerning the legal affairs of the Company. This attorney will interact with director level staff at the communities and with senior level members of the corporate staff. Our corporate office is located at a scenic, gated retirement campus in Baltimore County with on-site parking and nearby amenities. Some travel to the operating communities will be involved.
Senior Counsel, Employment & Operations Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:
This attorney will be involved in both daily and long-term strategic employment law counseling. The attorney will provide advice and counsel on typical employment or labor concerns within the workplace and will manage outside counsel handling litigation. In addition, the attorney will implement training and policies aimed at litigation avoidance and function as a business partner to HR teams at all levels. This attorney will work with independence and autonomy.
In addition, this attorney will have the chance to be involved with project teams for operational aspects of developing and operating retirement communities. These teams may include initial licensing, new resident services, the diversity & inclusion council, training of staff, drafting contracts, or intellectual property matters as examples.
The attorney will also assist in the planning of legal department budget allocations and the budgets for outside legal service budgets as part of the annual business plan cycle.

Graduate of an accredited law school is required.
7-10 years of experience focused on employment & labor matters.
