Assist in the conduct of litigation and other matters relating to environmental and safety regulatory issues. Advise internal clients regarding legislative and regulatory requirements in these areas. With Senior Attorneys, direct and collaborate with outside counsel.
Position requires some travel, which may increase during emergency responses or special projects.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Develop Subject Matter Expertise and Assist Senior Attorneys in Matters Involving Environmental and Safety Regulations 50% • Work with internal clients on projects, compliance with regulations and other matters as assigned • Establish, maintain and strengthen working relationships with clients and outside counsel • Manage outside counsel • Perform special projects and assignments as needed
Legal Writing 20% • Draft pleadings, legal memoranda, reports, transactional and other documents, as requested • Review work product of outside counsel • Work with business units to produce strategic documents that reflect legal advice
Research 20% • Provide legal research and analysis on key issues as requested • Monitor and report on industry issues and potential impact on Company • Monitor and report on regulatory developments and potential impact on Company and recommend appropriate legal action in response
Emergency Response 10% • Participate as requested in emergency response activities, including any preparatory activities such as drills and respond as necessary as legal representative in crisis situations

Work is frequently performed in a typical office environment. Visual acuity to read and prepare reports and documentation. Digital dexterity for operation of PC Keyboard and mouse. Ability to communicate in order to understand instructions, convey information and receive information.
Education Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
Experience 3 to 5 years legal experience with a concentration in environmental matters. General litigation and in-house legal experience preferred.
Certification & Licensure Membership in the Georgia State Bar Association as an attorney qualified to practice law in Georgia.
Other Deep knowledge of federal, state and local laws, particularly with respect to environmental and safety-related regulatory matters.
