Primary legal advisor regarding all environmental, health and safety regulatory matters affecting the company’s refining and petrochemical manufacturing facilities, pipelines and business operations in the U.S.
Primary legal advisor and coordinator for Total affiliates overseeing and managing site investigation and remediation throughout the U.S.
Management of administrative and civil litigation relating to agency regulatory enforcement, site investigation/remediation, and Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE)
Advise corporate HSE Department and facility personnel on environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance
Advise Port Arthur Refinery HSE Department regarding compliance with the National Refinery Initiative Consent Decree
Advise senior management and remediation staff on legal matters for third-party Superfund sites, and investigation/remediation of former company terminals, refineries and underground storage tank sites
Retain and manage outside counsel for litigation and other matters
Provide legal support on regulatory compliance matters for crisis management and incident response teams
Provide legal assistance to product stewardship regarding Toxic Substances Control Act applicability and interpretation
QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Juris Doctorate degree from law school accredited by the American Bar Association
Licensed attorney in the State of Texas
10+ years of environmental law experience, including environmental, health and safety regulation of refining, petrochemical, or other industrial operations
Strong management, leadership, teamwork, problem solving, analytical, collaborative, communication and strategy development skills
