National real estate company with a portfolio of shopping centers and retail properties is seeking a Senior Real Estate Attorney to join its In-House Counsel team. The position will report directly to the General Counsel and owner of the company.
Draft, negotiate, and revise retail leases with major national tenants.
Draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, financing documents, CC&R documents, declarations, access agreements, easement agreements, and related documents for development.
Serve as liaison with leasing department with respect to all leasing matters such as letters of intent, leases, amendments, letter agreements, and interpretation of leases.
Assist with and serve as authority on other commercial real estate matters such as entity structures, financing, and acquisitions.
Handle day-to-day legal matters for company's real estate portfolio.
Review due diligence including title, survey, zoning, and entitlements for acquisitions and financing.
Oversee the company’s litigation matters.
Direct the company’s outside legal counsel on strategy and proceedings.
10+ years of commercial real estate legal experience with an extensive background in retail leasing and financing.
Able to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple, detailed tasks simultaneously, prioritize appropriately and delegate to resources available.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Legal research skills.
Litigation experience preferred.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, a commitment to professionalism, integrity, collegiality and the ability to work on a wide range of legal matters.
Must be an independent, self-directed, organized and diligent worker and able to work with minimal supervision.
Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities.
Must have strong PC skills with Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel and Outlook).
Must be able to anticipate problems and issues and exercise independent judgment to make solid, justifiable legal decisions and take action in solving problems.
Highly organized, results oriented and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.
