Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented commercial lawyer to be based in Singapore to fill the position of Corporate Counsel – Data Center Operations (IT Transactions) supporting Amazon Web Services (“AWS”), a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. AWS is at the forefront of the "cloud" computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, browsers and more.
This attorney will work on a team responsible for supporting AWS's worldwide data centers, including data center construction, operations, compliance, and networking. The candidate will have lead transactional drafting and negotiation responsibilities on deals, and provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for senior executives and other business team members. These transactions range from standard contracts to complex, high value agreements. You will structure, draft and negotiate agreements, manage outside counsel, and advise internal business clients on critical issues relating to (among other things): telecommunications services, IP transport and transit services, interconnection, colocation, fiber acquisitions, data center operations, and other commercial matters of varying levels of complexity. The role also provides day-to-day business, regulatory, and intellectual property law counseling; identifies opportunities for and implements process improvements; administers and resolves legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships; and handles pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
Qualified candidates must have three or more years of legal experience. The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, enjoy working hard and being challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. A J.D. degree and membership in one state bar is required. Experience providing legal advice in the IT/technology space
A minimum of 3 years of legal experience (with several years at a leading law firm or in-house experience)
Background in telecommunications, networking, or data center operations.
Experience negotiating Master Agreements for a wide range of goods and services.
Background in supply chain and logistics
Regulatory experience in regulated fields like telecommunications or electricity.
