We are looking for a talented public sector lawyer to be based in New Delhi, India, supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as other Amazon businesses selling to the public sector customers in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region with an emphasis on sales to the Indian public sector. AWS is at the forefront of the "cloud" computing industry providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, browsers and more to private and public sector customers. You will be responsible for reviewing, negotiating and drafting a wide range of technology licensing contracts and subcontracts with public and private sector customers in India and the APAC region, including teaming agreements, reseller agreements, and bid proposal/tender responses. You will also support compliance with U.S. and international government contracting laws, rules and regulations, and will create and train employees on company policies related to government contracting. You will work directly with the business, providing day-to-day advice for senior executives and other business members on government contracting issues, resolving issues that arise in existing relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries. A successful candidate should be proactive, entrepreneurial, enjoy working hard and being challenged, have strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrate sound, pragmatic judgment in ambiguous situations, and have a healthy sense of humor. This position will be based in New Delhi. Travel, including international travel, will be required.
Admitted to practice law in India
5+ years of public sector focused transactional legal experience
Previous work experience in a law firm and/or in-house experience at a technology or internet company
Knowledge of Indian public procurement laws and tender policies and procedures
Fluency in English, written and spoken (fluency in additional language(s) is a plus)
Knowledge of APAC regional public procurement laws and tender policies and procedures (in additional to those in India)
Knowledge of U.S. government local, state, and federal contracting laws, rules, and regulations including commercial items contracting, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)
Familiar with IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications or cloud computing services.
Experience supporting the sale of professional services programs and transactions in Indian or other parts of the APAC region
