Our client, a prestigious Foundation, has engaged us on an exclusive basis to identify an Attorney with strong contract and family foundation experience to serve as Director of the Foundation.
The Director will oversee and manage the Foundation’s grant giving and operating initiatives. This position has legal, managerial, program development, and administrative components.
The Director will report to the Foundation’s President and will play a major role in strategically integrating and managing the various programs that the Foundation currently funds. Also, they will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the multiple components of their initiatives.
The Director’s primary responsibilities will include:
Oversee outcomes of funded grantees
Contribute to the overall strategic direction and continuous development of the educational and medical initiatives
Assist in new program design and development (program structure, resources, contacts, etc.)
Assist with program-related activities, including event planning and execution
Administrative and Operations Management:
Manage the day to day responsibilities of the Foundation
Contribute to creating a business plan for the Foundation
Using project management skills, create and update project timelines and budgets
Lead contract negotiations
Coordinate weekly meetings with President and staff
Prepare all meeting materials for Executive Board meetings
Monitor and work closely with the Foundation’s partners to achieve desired outcomes
Coordinate contractors for individual programs
Assist in the programing of the website and work with the President and staff to manage website content
Along with the President, serve as the contact person for the Foundation
Represent the Foundation at meetings and conferences, as required
Establish strategic connections with new and existing contacts
Ensure that the Foundation is connected with leading edge research and best practices related to its mission
Seven or more years of experience managing programs or related projects in education and/or philanthropy
Solid contract experience and experience dealing with complex contracts
Advanced degree in Psychology, Education, Business, or other related field related to philanthropy is a plus
Strong academics and a stable work history
Excellent leadership and management skills
An energetic, entrepreneurial nature that combines intellectual curiosity with analytical skills and political savvy
Superb networking, negotiation/conflict resolution, and interpersonal/diplomatic skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
Strong integrity and a commitment to professional excellence
Strong team player that is flexible, hardworking, and has a positive outlook
Exceptional project management skills
Able to coordinate all work activities
Attention to time and budget management
Strong communication skills
Fluent in Microsoft Office applications
High degree of comfort with a fast-paced, hands-on technology-enhanced work environment.
Ability to travel as needed (limited travel)

Experience working in a non-profit environment
Familiarity with Board of Directors roles and operations
