Job Summary: Provide legal support on a broad range of employment law matters under US federal and state law including matters such as employee leave, non-compete agreements, discrimination, disability accommodation, hiring, performance management and discharge, wage and hour, ethics, and other employment issues.
10+ years of employment law experience at a major law firm or corporate in-house legal department. In-house legal department experience strongly preferred. Labor and Benefit experience a plus, but not required.
Licenses or Certifications
Admission and membership in good standing to the bar of at least one state
Strong understanding of US Federal and State employment law
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, outside counsel, business partners, and other stakeholders. Excellent analytical skills and people skills. Ability to prioritize responsibilities, to work efficiently, to manage and to conclude in a timely manner, many projects, issues, and cases.
Qualities & Attitude
Excellent judgment and ability to provide solution- oriented, practical guidance in working with human resources and business management. Ability to operate in a fast paced, small legal department on a broad range of employment law matters. Ability to act independently and as part of a team.
