Envision EMI, the world’s largest creator of leadership and success programs for high achieving scholars is seeking a General Counsel to add to its senior management team. With programs running across the country and internationally, Envision educates, inspires and motivates over 50,000 scholars a year.
Position Summary: The General Counsel is responsible for providing advice and counsel on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues to support the Company’s growth plan and strategy to become one of the most highly respected learning companies in the world. As a member of the executive team, the GC will manage the Company’s legal function and serve as a key advisor to the President on issues such as contract negotiations, labor and employment matters, intellectual property, strategic relationships and litigation. A natural self-starter, our GC is proactive and engaged in the business – identifying opportunities to pursue and threats to overcome.
Position Responsibilities: •Provide legal advice and representation to all functional and operational divisions.
•Provide legal advice in connection with business development, acquisitions and joint venture arrangements or other strategic partnerships.
•Design, manage and support organizational practices and policies in the areas of regulatory, compliance, risk management and mitigation strategies, identifying potential areas of weakness and making recommendations for improvement.
•Evaluate and manage the outside counsel relationships, ensuring that costs associated with the use of outside resources are actively tracked and contained within the confines of budgetary projections.
•Advise and assist human resources and finance department with global legal matters related to employee relations, benefits plans and financial matters.
•Negotiate, draft and review all contracts to support the continued growth of the business.
•Ensure the Company’s compliance with federal and state laws in order to mitigate legal risks.
•Manage resolution of customer related concerns.
•Monitor legal developments which may impact the company, and develop strategies to protect the company.
•Oversee corporate governance function.
