The Vice President, Legal will report directly to the Company’s Sr. Vice President & General Counsel and will be the primary point of contact for and will provide direct legal advice to internal business partners on a number of specific areas of responsibility, including:
• Real property matters, including land use development and compliance, acquisitions, leasing and real estate finance;
• Corporate entity formation, maintenance and compliance;
• Distribution agreements;
• Trademark portfolio development and protection;
• Promotional and Marketing Activities;
• General Beverage Alcohol compliance; and
• General contract preparation and review.
The Vice President, Legal will also be expected to develop a strong “generalist” background in a wide variety of other legal areas that arise from time to in the operation of the Company’s business and will share certain Legal Department internal development and management responsibilities with the General Counsel.

The prospective candidate will be an accomplished attorney with eight to twelve years of experience in a broad range of subject matters, with an emphasis in real estate, land use and a working knowledge of general business law. The prospective candidate would also ideally have some experience with intellectual property matters, familiarity with alcoholic beverage laws and regulations and the wine industry, in general. He or she will:
• Be skilled at relationship building;
• Adhere to the highest ethical standards;
• Have a demonstrated ability to manage staff, coach and mentor direct reports, and set high performance expectations; • Maintain positive, constructive relationships and communications with internal team members and business partners;
• Be proficient in various software applications and self- sustaining in production of correspondence and documents.
• The prospective candidate will have a J.D. degree from a top tier law school and must be licensed to practice law in the State of California.
